FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH BROWARD FAMILY SUPPORT WORKER - 64006444 COMMUNITY HEALTH -IMMUNIZATION OUTREACH INTERNAL AGENCY OPPORTUNITY

This position requires you to work on site at one of our facilities located throughout Broward County.

Duties And Responsibilities

The Family Support Worker will be responsible for distributing WIC Program materials at places of business, medical providers, churches, community organizations, health clinic, schools, child care providers, parks and recreation centers and other agencies.

Responsible for maintaining and udating an Excel spreadsheet with medical and community providers. Identify and add new sites to the Excel spreadsheet as needed. Document all outreach activities daily and submit monthly and quarterly reports timely.

Responsible for attending community events and providing educational presentations to the community on the WIC Program.

Represents WIC at community organizations, meetings, and coalitions to promote breastfeeding and provide outreach. Assist individuals and/or families on how to access WIC services

Attends & participates in monthly staff meetings, in-service trainings, other staff development activities

Assist with stocking and having readily available large quantities of all KidCare materials (applications, brochures, promotional items, and other information) needed by community partners in Broward County. Mail or hand deliver these materials as requested.

Time sheet and EAR entry within the required time frame

Performs other related duties.

Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position:

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Basic knowledge of community outreach practices
  • Ability to conduct community wide presentations
  • Ability to operate and use a variety of basic office equipment
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments
  • Ability to construct and distribute correspondences
  • Ability to listen attentively and record accurate meeting minutes
  • Ability to run vaccination assessments in Florida Shots to ensure provider compliance
  • Knowledge of labor and delivery locations in Broward County
  • Knowledge of vaccination consent process
  • Ability to create purchase requisitions/orders using My Florida Marketplace
  • Competency with HMS client scanning

Minimum Qualifitions

  • Willing to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency.
  • Current employee of Florida Department of Health employees, (includes OPS, Career Service, SES or SMS employees).
  • Valid driver’s license, free of major infractions and access to an automobile to be utilized for work purpose.
  • Have experience working in WIC Program.
  • Willing to work evenings and weekends as determined by program needs.

  • Experience conducting Community Outreach.
  • Experience facilitating community presentations.
  • Experience working with Federal/State/Private Eligibility Programs.
  • Experience working with social service programs.
