- Directing the activities of section members to ensure the general quality and efficiency of the work performed;
- Directly supervising section personnel in the areas of case assignment, file review, performance appraisal, attendance and leave, training, resolution of technical and administrative issues, and other matters;
- Monitoring adherence to the Forensic Science Quality Manual (FSQM), Laboratory Administrative Procedures Manual (LAPM), discipline SOP and accreditation requirements to ensure the highest level of quality work product;
- Coordinating daily section activities, ensuring the equitable distribution of workload and establishing section priorities;
- Creating a collaborative working environment among section members and peer supervisors through open and effective communication with all members;
- Establishing and communicating job related performance standards and conducting performance appraisals;
- Providing the chief of forensic services with technical and administrative input; and
- Applying the Evidence Submission Policy, granting exceptions where needed.
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in forensic science, criminalistics or in a physical or natural science; completion of a Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Crime Laboratory Analyst training program and three years of professional experience in a crime laboratory analyst class (or equivalent class).
- Preference will be given to Crime Laboratory Analysts proficient in Biology.
- Knowledge of FDLE’s Policies and Procedures, laboratory policies and accreditation requirements;
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of quality assurance and quality control;
- Knowledge of FDLE’s selection criteria;
- Knowledge of purchasing procedures. Ability to coordinate repairs, preventative maintenance, and calibration of equipment;
- Skill in communicating with the Chief of Forensic Services on laboratory and personnel matters;
- Skill in establishing and maintaining cordial working relationships with contributors;
- Ability to monitor the quality of work product; and
- Ability to establish and maintain attendance and leave.
