This is the supervisory level of judicial case management work, responsible for overseeing and supervising the work of staff to ensure the timely and efficient progression of court cases. In addition to work performed at the Judicial Case Manager III level, employees provide daily supervision of case management work, research and resolve escalated issues, errors, or problems, and ensure the proper training and development of staff.

Essential Functions



  • Receives minimal supervision from a technical or administrative supervisor; the supervisor defines objectives, priorities, and deadlines and assists the employee with unusual situations.
  • Supervises two or more full-time positions in this class series, which may also include other similar level support positions. The elements of supervision include performing the following on a regular and continuing basis: planning, assigning, reviewing, evaluating, coaching, training, disciplining, and recommending hire, termination, and promotion.
  • Serves as contact to resolve escalated case management and processing issues and is well-versed in the operations of the court and associated functions in other courts.
  • Coordinates case activities with other internal and external departments, agencies and courts/units.
  • Ensures compliance of judicial case management work with all rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures applicable to case management activities.
  • Provides case management and administrative support for court proceedings and trial-related activities both in and outside the courtroom, as needed.
  • Evaluates judicial case management operations and performance; makes recommendations such as new or revised processes and procedures that facilitate effectiveness and compliance.
  • Confers with judicial officers/administrators on matters affecting the daily management of the court's caseload
  • Communicates effectively with internal and external stakeholders, judicial officers, court users, justice partners, and members of the public to ensure efficient and effective case management operations and resolve complex or unusual issues.


Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Judicial Case Management Supervisor
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
  • Three years’ experience in managing cases as they move through the legal process.
  • Two years’ experience in researching files, records, and other sources of information, to ensure accurate case data and resolve issues in case flow or other issues.
  • Two years’ experience in narrative report writing.
  • Coursework, training and/or work experience in staff supervision which may include performing as a lead worker overseeing the work of others.

Conditions of Hire
