Essential Functions
- Manages the analysis, formulation, and integration of a Department's financial management programs. Develops and implements methods for program evaluation.
- Oversees development of multi-year plans/programs. Works with departmental, executive, and legislative officials to explain financial plans and issues. Determines problem areas and recommends solutions.
- Proposes legislation that will support the Department's strategic plan.
- Coordinates, facilitates, and reports back to management the activities and progress of various focus groups/task forces/steering committees.
- Provides planning, budgetary, and management expertise to Department administration and operations managers.
- Monitors day-to-day fiscal activities to ensure they meet state/federal objectives and/or guidelines.
Job Requirements
JOB REQUIREMENTS for Assistant Director Financial Management
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
- Three years' experience in financial administration such as comprehensive analysis of programs, budgets, projects, services, alternatives, and costs; financial planning, revenue generation, revenue forecasting, expenditure forecasting, cash flow management and establishing internal control.
- Three years' experience in interpreting and analyzing financial reports.
- Six months experience in strategic planning such as planning and mapping a path between the present and future usually for three to five years by determining key objectives, how to accomplish the key objectives, what strategies should be used, what activities would contribute to accomplishing the key objectives and developing performance measures to gauge and report progress or success.
- Six months experience in operations management which includes planning, directing, coordinating, controlling and evaluating operations typically through subordinate supervisors.
