Summary Statement

Incumbents in this class serve as lead workers for roadway signing projects. Possession of a valid Driver’s License is required and must be maintained.� Since this position will be an on-call rotation, the selected candidate must live within 45 minutes of the Bear Sign shop

Essential Functions

Essential functions are fundamental, core functions common to all positions in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position in the class.�Since class specifications are descriptive and not restrictive, incumbents can complete job duties of similar kind not specifically listed here. Oversees crews installing signs or pavement markings (tape or paint). Prepares sites for sign installation. Determines proper layouts for intersection markings. Operates hand and power tools such as air hammers, pipe installers and pullers, saws, etc. Operates motor vehicles, tape machines, hand rollers and air compressors. Submits daily reports to account for materials, man-hours and equipment used. Maintains inventories of supplies. Provides training for less experienced installers.

Job Requirements

Job Requirements for Traffic Sign Installer Specialist Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas: Six months experience in operating a variety of hand and power tools used in trades fields such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting or HVAC. Knowledge of interpreting blueprints, schematics or technical drawings. Possession of a valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving.

This position is a classification organized under an exclusive bargaining representative (labor organization) that has been elected by employees as their representative for collective bargaining and other applicable�terms and conditions of employment, in accordance with Title 29, Chapter 59 and Title 19, Chapter 13 and 16.� This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement based on its individual terms. Functional Capability Evaluation: Upon a conditional offer, you must take a Functional Capability Evaluation to assess your strength and agility to meet the physical requirements of the position. As a condition of�hire you must possess a valid driver's license (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving). All new hires are required to report to the Statewide New Employee Orientation (SNEO) on their first day of employment. Sessions are held at designated locations in Kent or New Castle County.
