Summary Statement

The incumbent is responsible for assisting and/or instructing individuals in performing a variety of therapy activities in accordance with well prescribed procedures.� The incumbent works under the close supervision of a technical superior and is responsible for assisting and/or instructing individuals in therapy activities such as performing basic living skills, sensorimotor activities, psychosocial activities or preparing individuals for therapy treatments; observes and records individual's progress; requisitions supplies and materials; maintains work areas and equipment. The incumbent is responsible for assessments, facilitating therapeutic groups daily, and documenting progress.

Assists and/or instructs individuals in performing prescribed therapy treatments to improve their ability to perform daily living activities. Provides instruction in the use of therapeutic equipment. Observes and records an individual's progress in performing therapy activities. Participates in treatment team meetings to provide input in the development of an individual's treatment plan. Maintains records, writes reports and requisitions supplies and materials.| Ensures work area, equipment and materials are clean. May plan and organize trips to encourage and increase an individuals living skills development.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Therapy Aide Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas: Knowledge of conducting individual or group activities. Knowledge of working with persons with disabilities. Knowledge of applying laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures. Knowledge of data collection which includes collecting, compiling and maintaining data from multiple sources such as files, records, databases, customers, staff or others. Knowledge of record keeping.

Conditions of Hire

This position is a classification organized under an exclusive bargaining representative (labor organization) that has been elected by employees as their representative for collective bargaining and other applicable�terms and conditions of employment, in accordance with Title 29, Chapter 59 and Title 19, Chapter 13 and 16.� This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement based on its individual terms. Upon a conditional offer, the applicant must undergo a pre-employment base line two step tuberculin skin test (TST) as part of the hiring process. Pre-employment Drug Testing:� Upon a conditional offer, you must undergo pre-employment drug testing as part of the hiring process. Criminal background check:�A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of hire. �The recruiting agency may require the applicant to pay for the criminal background check as part of the conditional offer of hire. All new hires are required to report to the Statewide New Employee Orientation (SNEO) on their first day of employment. Sessions are held at designated locations in Kent or New Castle County. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
