Whiting Forensic Hospital (WFH), under the umbrella of the State of Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS), is seeking a dedicated Per Diem Psychiatrist (PCN 128349) to join our team in Middletown, CT.
Whiting Forensic Hospital cares for patients under the jurisdiction of the Psychiatric Security Review Board (PSRB), patients committed by the superior court for competency restoration, and civil patients in need of maximum security psychiatric treatment.
This per diem position offers a flexible Monday through Friday schedule, within a supportive and mission-driven clinical environment.

DMHAS is a health care agency whose mission is to promote the overall health and wellness of persons with behavioral health needs through an integrated network of holistic, comprehensive, effective, and efficient services and supports that foster dignity, respect, and self-sufficiency in those we serve.
WFH provides inpatient forensic psychiatric services for individuals requiring a secure therapeutic environment. Treatment focuses on stabilization, recovery, and preparation for safe transition to less restrictive settings, consistent with each individual's legal status and clinical needs.

Minimum Qualifications - General Experience
- Incumbents in this class must possess and maintain a license to practice medicine and surgery issued by the Connecticut Department of Public Health in accordance with the applicable Connecticut General Statutes. A temporary license may be granted for a period not to exceed one (1) year.
- Incumbents in this class must have completed at least one (1) year of residency program experience in psychiatry approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
Special Requirements
- Incumbents in this class must possess and maintain eligibility for participation in federal health care programs as defined in 42 U.S. 1320a-7b(f).
- Incumbents in this class may be required to possess and maintain relevant registration(s) and/or certification(s).
