Are you experienced in Plumbing trades? If so, we have a unique volunteer opportunity�for you! The�State of Connecticut,�Department of Administrative Services�(DAS)�Codes and Standards Committee�is looking to fill�one (1) volunteer appointed seat�to help shape the future of the Connecticut State Building and Fire Safety Codes per�CT General Statute CGS � 29-251.� We are seeking a plumbing trades individual with at least ten (10) years of experience in applying Connecticut plumbing codes and standards to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient system installations. Knowledgeable in interpreting state and local regulations, including proper material selection, system design, and inspection requirements. Committed to maintaining high-quality workmanship while adhering to all safety and compliance guidelines. WHO WE ARE The State Codes and Standards Committee is a *twenty-three member committee responsible for the adoption of a State Building Code and a State Fire Safety Code based on nationally recognized model codes and related activities. The committee members each contribute to code adoption through their representation of their respective areas, as well as doing the national model code review and revisions. REQUIREMENTS In accordance with CGS � 29-251, in order to be considered for this appointment, you must be a resident of the state. POSITION DETAILS Members of the State Codes and Standards Committee meet monthly to review progress of building and fire safety code development efforts, updates on appeals against local and state code officials’ decisions and complaints about local building and fire code officials. Members also take part in meetings and work groups of the Codes Amendment Subcommittee, which is where detailed consideration of new State building and fire safety codes takes place. The subcommittee meetings are concentrated in approximately 18-months of a three-year code development cycle. The Codes and Standards Committee members may also serve other functions, including serving on panels for appeal hearings and complaints, and in other groups such as the Building Code Training Council, Fire Code Training Council and the Fire Prevention Code Advisory Committee.�� The committee meets mostly virtually once a month and, during the development of new state codes, another once or twice a month. The Codes Amendment Subcommittee will meet to discuss and agree on what the next state codes should include and any adjustments to reflect the Connecticut specific needs. *Updates to�CGS � 29-251 via Public Act No. 24-71 can be found here.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Active Connecticut plumbing license (e.g., P-1 or P-2) in good standing, issued by the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection. Minimum 10 years of practical plumbing experience, including application of the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply codes, standards, and technical documents. Working knowledge of Connecticut state amendments and regulatory requirements.
