This position is eligible for a Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA) after the initial training period. The FWA includes a hybrid workplace which is partly remote (work from home) and partly in office at our DOC Headquarters building at 1250 Academy Park Loop in Colorado Springs, CO.

This position is only open to Colorado state residents.

Description Of Job

The UKG Technician III participates in the establishment of processes to ensure procedures, training, and tools needed to ensure successful client, co-worker and vendor interactions. This position is adept at establishing a trusted relationship with clients and stakeholders demonstrating the ability to successfully influence and implement change through these relationships.

This position is responsible for documenting the client’s existing business processes at a high-level, and conducting and overseeing business process optimization activities with little to no supervision. This position will work with other senior members of the organization to translate business problems or needs into business requirements and functional specifications in order to differentiate between technology opportunities and business process opportunities. Functions performed by this position are a critical component and contributor to the HRMES Replacement project and Timekeeping and Leave.

Primary Duties May Include, But Are Not Limited To

  • Provide implementation support for the HRMES Replacement project as well as Timekeeping and Leave for the Business Innovation Unit and Office of Human Resources;
  • Identify and resolve issues, using judgment, to improve system issues;
  • Create, compile and build mock employee data files for testing;
  • Assist in training employees on the UKG Pro People Center solution and UKG Timekeeping and Leave Module;
  • Gather and analyze requested documentation for the UKG Administrator;
  • Utilize and manipulate various database tracking systems such as HRMES, CPPS, WebX, DCIS, Form i9, Document Manager, and HRDW actions;
  • Maintain confidentiality of information, file all documentation into electronic personnel files and distribute mail accordingly;
  • Ensure UKG on-boarding processes are accurate, efficient and comprehensive;
  • Support and assist the Business Innovation Unit UKG Administrator throughout project implementation;
  • Coordinate the transition of quality control from HRMES, CPPS, WebX, DCIS, Form i9, Document Manager, and HRDW to UKG Pro People Center;
  • Review, analyze, and certify reports and access to reports for compliance settings;
  • Review for accuracy and compliance of the data held in the UKG products and programs;
  • Detect, discover and communicate issues by monitoring transition from HRMES and CPPS data to UKG
  • Ensure data accuracy between work units and correct any factual errors in UKG Pro People Cente and Timekeeping and Leave;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Three (3) years of *technical or **high level clerical experience. (This work experience must be clearly described, in your own words, in the work history section of your application to meet this requirement.) A ny work experience less than full time will be prorated.

  • Technical work is defined as skilled work in the practical application of specialized techniques, procedures, practices, or methods in order to accomplish tasks. The specialized work is a direct extension of a professional field which requires an understanding of that field, the nature of the work requires that it revert to a professional if not performed by a technician.
  • High Level clerical experience includes the following: document creation, word processing; create and revise office procedures; compiling and formatting the content for program materials such as annual reports and newsletters; screening documents and supporting information to determine eligibility, authenticity, or identity; accounting for the unit's allotted funds by authorizing operating expenditures.

Or

A combination of college or university school course work in Criminal Justice, Business Management, Public Administration, or a related field and relevant years of experience as defined above equal to three (3) years. (You must submit a copy of your unofficial college transcript with your name, college name, degree and date conferred in order to receive credit.)

  • High level clerical or technical work experience within Colorado State Government.
  • Knowledge of and proven work experience in Google Applications (Drive, Sheets, Docs, and Forms) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience completing multiple projects simultaneously with on-going, frequent, deadlines.
  • Progressive experience working in a fast-paced customer-oriented environment with a focus on delivering a high level of customer service.
  • Proven experience monitoring work, checking for errors, and verifying accuracy.
  • Knowledge and experience researching and compiling statistics, data measurements and preparing reliable reports in a logical and concise format.
  • Process improvement experience - analyze processes, identify gaps and recommend areas for improvement.

  • Possess a valid driver’s license. Drivers must maintain a valid, non-restricted Colorado driver license, obey traffic laws, and be able to safely operate a motor vehicle. State drivers are expected to maintain a safe driving record consistent with Colorado Division of Human Resources Universal Policy Driving Standards . Eligibility to drive a State-owned vehicle, includes holding a valid Colorado driver’s license within 30 days of employment or residency change and meeting specific driving record criteria. Serious traffic violations, including DUIs or reckless driving, can disqualify drivers for up to seven years. All State Vehicles are monitored by telematics for safe operation and employees have no reasonable expectation of privacy while using an agency State Fleet vehicle.

The CDOC shall not hire nor promote anyone who may have contact with an offender who has engaged in sexual abuse which includes acts, activity, and sexual behavior, in a prison or other institution as defined in 42 U.S.C. 1997; or has been convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse, or has been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in the activity described in the above paragraph. The agency shall consider any incidents of sexual harassment in determining whether to hire anyone who may have contact with offenders or residents.

  • Successfully pass all modules of the six-week Colorado Department of Corrections Basic Training, to include English reading comprehension, relevant competency assessments and written/practical exams in Defensive Tactics
  • Possess the physical ability to successfully complete Defensive Tactics
    • Lift arms above head and kick as high as own waist
    • Stabilize another person to accomplish a controlled take down
    • Use arms, palms of hands, shins, and feet to deliver blows
    • Withstand impact (slow speed or with a safety bag) on own body from strikes/blows
    • Swing a baton in a striking technique
    • Rotate body 90 degrees with feet planted for striking with foot or using a defensive tactic;
    • Get down on one or both knees and up again with multiple repetitions
  • Will be exposed to Oleoresin Capsicum during Basic Training and will be exposed while on assignment
  • Must be able to see and hear in order to observe, address and respond to potential breaches in safety and security
  • Seize, hold, control or subdue violent or assaultive persons and defend oneself or others to prevent injury
  • Demonstrate body agility, strength of all four limbs and the ability to walk and climb stairs consistently
  • Work in situations involving assaultive behavior, physical control of another person and/or restraint situations
  • Deal with individuals with a range of moods and behaviors, utilizing tactfulness and a congenial, personable manner
  • Work with people of the opposite sex, diverse racial ethnic groups, mentally ill and emotionally disturbed offenders
  • Communicate by talking, listening and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information, assignments
  • Work in an environment with fluctuating noise and temperature (hot and cold) which may include working outdoors in inclement weather and/or concrete floor/wall work settings
  • Willing and able to travel
  • Willing and able to work various shifts, days, afternoons, graveyards (nights) which includes a rotating shift schedule
  • TB (tuberculosis) screening is required of all new employees upon hire
Successful completion of a background investigation is required. Should applicant’s background reveal criminal charges, it shall be the responsibility of the applicant to provide the Department of Corrections with written/official disposition of any charges.
