This announcement is for two seasonal positions: one from May 11 to October 9, 2026 and one from May 25, 2026 to August 28, 2026. As a seasonal positions, selected applicants will not be eligible for unemployment insurance at the end of assignment. This positions will work in the Broomfield lab and perform field work in Boulder and the Front Range.
This posting may be used to fill more than one vacancy.

Position duties:

This position assists the Department's Biological Control Program along the Front Range and Eastern Colorado to implement biological control of noxious weeds and insect pests; working alone or with others in the field and the CDA lab workroom. Work may occasionally include overnight travel or travel to remote areas. Training will be provided. 


Position will: survey, collect, monitor, or release biological control agents throughout the field season; communicate effectively with co-workers, the public, customers and government officials. Accurately navigate to field sites, document work using GIS or other mapping applications. Drive to and from field sites, therefore a current valid State of Colorado driver's license is required.

Minimum Requirements:
Proven Experience, Knowledge, Skills:
  • One (1) year experience or equivalent education in pest management, land management, natural resources, or related field

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Insect and/or plant identification skills 

  • Bachelor's degree in entomology, botany, or relevant agriculture or natural resources field

  • Insect and/or plant identification skills

Conditions of Employment:

  • Ability to complete work independently

  • Be highly organized and able to maintain clear and reliable records

  • Physically capable of safely working long hours, in all weather conditions

  • Current Colorado Driver's license with clean driving record

  • Ability to work with large numbers of insects
