Job Summary

Performs work corresponding to the activities within the Division of Public Health Licensing Services, Bureau of Long Term Care

Facilities Licensing. Assists with or determines the issuing of licenses to licensed facilities and providers, maintaining current licenses

by ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations. Assists with or conducts initial and annual recertification/compliance inspections

of health care institutions regulated by the Department to determine compliance with all applicable regulations. Oversee and/or review

of quality systems by tracking documents, corrective actions, and other quality data. Assists with or conducts advanced level

investigations of the operation of a licensed facility or provider upon receiving a complaint or of an unlicensed facility. Performing

services that need regulation. Corresponds with the regulated community or with regulatory bodies, responds to technical questions

from licensees, develops standards, participates in rulemaking. Performs, assists or reviews detailed investigative or inspection reports,

statements of deficiencies, and correspondence regarding changes in the status of a licensee’s license, or other types of legal orders.

Schedule and/or ensure inspections are performed according to regulatory timeframes. Participates in and/or leads staff, advisory

committee, and/or stakeholder organization meetings. Provides technical assistance to providers and consumers. Requests/analyzes/

oversees/responds to feedback from clients on services. Develops standard and ad hoc reports, templates, dashboards, and other

performance-related metrics. Oversees training program for new employees. Generates training materials and gives presentations to

internal/external stakeholders as assigned. Supervises, directs, and provides advice and guidance to lower-level worker.

Job Duties

Assists with or determines the issuing of licenses to licensed facilities and providers, maintaining current

licenses by ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations. Assists with or conducts initial and annual

recertification/compliance inspections of health care institutions regulated by the Department to determine

Assists with or conducts advanced level investigations of the operation of a licensed facility or provider upon

receiving a complaint or of an unlicensed facility. Performing services that need regulation. Performs, assists or

reviews detailed investigative or inspection reports, statements of deficiencies, and correspondence regarding

changes in the status of a licensee’s license, or other types of legal orders.

Manage and direct subordinate staff (work assignments, setting priorities, hiring, discipline, provide training,

approving leave requests, and preparing evaluations).

Corresponds with the regulated community or with regulatory bodies, responds to technical questions from

licensees, develops standards, participates in rule making. Provides technical assistance to providers and

consumers. (CON'T BELOW)

Participates in and/or leads staff, advisory committee, and/or stakeholder organization meetings. Requests/

analyzes/oversees/responds to feedback from clients on services. Oversees training program for new

employees. Generates training materials and gives presentations to internal/external stakeholders as assigned.

Oversee and/or review of quality systems by tracking documents, corrective actions, and other quality data.

Develops standard and ad hoc reports, templates, dashboards, and other performance-related metrics.

Other duties as assigned as related to the position (typically 5% - 10%)

Selective Preference(s)

Min. of Bachelor’s degree and 3 yrs exp as a surveyor/compliance officer OR Bachelor’s degree and 3 yrs exp in management or

project management, or similar exp. Preference will be given to candidates who possess a professional license to practice in the State

of AZ or proof of eligibility for reciprocity of an out-of-state license, i.e., RN, Social Worker, Dietitian, Counselor, etc.

Pre-Employment Requirements

Must have driver’s license and ability to travel statewide. Must possess a valid level one fingerprint clearance card issued pursuant to

A.R.S. 41-1758.07 or must apply for a level one fingerprint clearance card within 7 working days after beginning employment. Must obtain within 2 years of hire: CLEAR-Basic-National Certified Investigator and Inspector Training Certificate and CLEAR-Specialized-

National Certified Investigator and Inspector Training Certificate.

If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job to conduct State business, then the following requirements apply: Driver’s License Requirements.

Retirement

To help you build a financially secure future, the State makes monthly contributions to finance your retirement benefit. The State will make a contribution to the ASRS in an amount equal to your contribution. In other words, you and the State will each pay 50% of the total cost of the benefit. New State employees have a 27 week wait period for contributions to begin.
