Job Description
The Office of the Governor, Division of Administrative Services is looking for a Network System Specialist to join our team in Juneau!
The Office of the Governor (GOV) Information Technology team is a cross-trained team of six consisting of three junior positions, two senior positions, and the IT Manager. This Microcomputer/Network Spec position is one of the team’s senior-level technical roles and supports the Office of the Governor, Office of the Lieutenant Governor, Office of Management and Budget, Division of Elections, and the Alaska State Commission for Human Rights. The GOV IT team is responsible for administering, maintaining, troubleshooting, and securing the department’s technology environment, including infrastructure, endpoints, servers, enterprise services, and network-connected devices.

Required technical skills:
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across desktop, server, infrastructure, and enterprise cloud services
- Administration and support of Windows workstation and server operating systems
- Administration of core infrastructure services such as Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP
- Knowledge of identity and access management principles, including account lifecycle management and privilege control
- Knowledge of endpoint security, patch management, vulnerability remediation, and secure system configuration
- Ability to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, networking, and systems integration issues
- Ability to maintain clear, useful documentation and share knowledge effectively with teammates and external partners, including other state agencies, vendors, and contractors
- Ability to handle confidential information and work involving sensitive or high-visibility matters with discretion
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and support multiple projects simultaneously

- Power Platform, Dataverse, or similar low-code business application platforms
- PowerShell or other scripting and automation tools
- Virtualization platforms, enterprise storage, or server hardware lifecycle management

- Backup, recovery, and continuity processes in production environments
- System migrations, upgrades, or service transitions

Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of education and progressively responsible professional experience in systems administration, infrastructure support, or related information technology operations that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position. This is typically gained through training in computer science, information technology, system administration, or a similar field, together with professional experience supporting enterprise systems, infrastructure services, and end-user computing environments.
