What are the responsibilities and job description for the Court Case Manager 2 (41-2016) - Anchorage Based position at State of Alaska?
The Alaska Court System is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join us as a Court Case Manager 2 (salary range 12). Under the general direction of the 2nd District Clerks of Court, this position is primarily responsible for managing civil cases in the 2nd District. The role includes providing in-court support, preparing and processing court documents, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring courtroom procedures run efficiently. The position also assists other staff members as needed and requires the use of independent judgment with minimal supervision while performing a wide range of detailed and time-sensitive tasks.
This position is based in Anchorage and expected to travel periodically to various courts within the Second District to offer in-person support.
In this role, you will clerk a wide variety of hearings, ensuring proceedings start on time, the courtroom and recordings remain secure, and all log notes—including oral motions, orders, testimony, and future dates—are accurately documented. You will administer oaths, manage exhibits and witness lists, schedule hearings, communicate with the jury office, assist with jury trials, and provide playback of court records when needed. After court, you will prepare, process, and distribute a wide range of court documents and orders; update case files and databases; and issue or quash warrants as directed. This position also requires troubleshooting and maintaining complex recording equipment, preparing courtrooms to quality-control standards, and coordinating with judicial officers, attorneys, staff, and outside agencies to ensure smooth daily operations. The ideal candidate is comfortable handling sensitive or hazardous exhibits, monitoring warrants, and performing high-stakes, accuracy-critical tasks in a fast-paced legal environment.
In addition to in-court duties, you will support the efficient processing of civil, juvenile, and probate matters by reviewing and filing complaints, petitions, appeals, and other pleadings; issuing summonses, warrants, and orders to show cause; and ensuring all filings meet court rules and statutory requirements. You will monitor service deadlines and cases for lack of prosecution, coordinate judges’ calendars, and schedule hearings and trials while maintaining accurate data in the case management system. This position also includes frontline customer service—greeting the public, answering inquiries, performing notarial services, and processing fees, fines, restitution, and trust payments. Additional duties include duplicating audio recordings, preparing files for archiving, and managing confidential matters such as Child in Need of Aid, delinquency, probate, and commitment filings. Perform other duties as assigned by Clerk of Court. If you thrive in a collaborative, detail-driven environment, we encourage you to apply.
