The Credit and Collections Manager is responsible for overseeing the credit approval process and ensuring alignment with the organization’s risk tolerance and financial objectives. This role leads and develops the credit team to reduce delinquency, improve cash flow, and enhance credit-related processes. The manager collaborates cross-functionally to refine existing policies and implement scalable solutions that support business growth.
Position Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain credit standards, including criteria for credit limits, special payment terms, and customer risk assessments
- Prepare, analyze, and present monthly, quarterly, and annual credit and collections reports; ensure financial data is accurate and aligned with company records
- Oversee the collections process for delinquent accounts, ensuring timely and professional follow-up to maximize recovery and minimize bad debt
- Develop and implement credit strategies; recommend policy updates based on risk analysis, business needs, and market conditions
- Monitor customer accounts to ensure data accuracy and identify potential credit risks.
- Ensure daily operations comply with corporate and departmental policies and procedures
- Supervise and support credit team members in executing effective collection efforts and achieving performance targets
- Recruit, onboard, and train new credit department staff; provide ongoing coaching and professional development
- Identify and implement opportunities to automate, streamline, or improve credit department workflows and processes
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by management
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
- 5–7 years of progressive experience in credit management, credit analysis, or a similar financial role, with a strong record of performance
- In-depth knowledge of credit evaluation, risk assessment, and collections processes
- Proven ability to build strong relationships and communicate effectively across all levels of an organization
- Skilled in negotiation and conflict resolution, with a tactful and professional approach to sensitive financial matters
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with sound judgment and attention to detail
- Highly organized and self-driven, capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in ERP and accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite), with advanced Microsoft Excel skills
