Supervises: Lawn & Garden Crew
Classification: Full-Time, Salary
Pay Range: $35,000 - $50,000/annually (dependent upon experience)
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee and assist in the maintenance and upkeep of the property grounds to include all aspects of lawns, gardens and landscaping.
- Develop and implement a ground maintenance plan.
- Schedule all mowing, spraying, watering, weeding, pruning, planting of all grass, trees and plants, and removal of diseased or dying/dead trees and plants.
- Oversee and assist with landscape installation, maintenance and upgrades.
- Oversee and assist in administering pest, disease and weed control programs on the grounds.
- Participate in bio-security efforts across the barns and arena complex.
- Inventory and operate grounds maintenance machinery such as mowers, weed trimmers and leaf blowers, and ensure all equipment and materials are maintained and used in a safe, efficient manner.
- Supervise and train employees in lawn and landscape maintenance, pest and weed control, irrigation and drainage, snow and ice removal, equipment operation and maintenance, and compliance with all safety policies and local laws and regulations.
- Maintain the beauty and health of all trees, shrubs and other plants.
- Conduct regular grounds inspections and coordinate with staff to ensure maintenance and safety.
- Coordinate with staff, contractors and vendors to ensure timely and quality services are provided.
- Keep accurate records of grounds maintenance activities.
- Assist in other departments as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Additional Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least 3 years of experience in a grounds management or landscaping role and/or a Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Landscape Architecture or a related field required.
- Possess a passion for landscaping and knowledge of horticulture principles and practices, including plant and tree identification and care, soil management, pest and weed control, and a working knowledge of a large variety of lawn and garden chemicals.
- Ability to operate and maintain various types of grounds equipment, tools and machinery.
- Proven ability to manage staff effectively and maintain grounds on schedule.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Extended hours, nights and weekends may be required during peak periods.
- Frequent or continual movement from place to place with normal physical mobility, covering long distances with ease, managing assigned tasks throughout various indoor and outdoor locations within and around the property and in potentially inclement/severe weather conditions.
- Regularly lift, carry and put away items weighing up to 50 lbs. and occasionally lift and carry heavier items and/or assist others in lifting heavier objects, as job demands.
- Walk and/or stand for extended periods in addition to other prolonged physical exertions including seeing, hearing, reaching, grasping, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, crouching, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing and working in awkward positions and tight areas may be required.
