What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adjunct Instructor Dental Hygiene position at State Fair Community College?
Position Purpose: Part-time adjunct dental hygiene faculty is a team instructor in the dental hygiene program at State Fair Community College. The adjunct faculty will be assigned to instruct first and/or second year students while working with patients in the campus clinic or classroom. Participation in team instructor calibration meetings are also required.
Essential Job Functions:
- Meeting minimum standards.
- Ongoing planning, systematic development, implementation and evaluation of the clinical component of the DH program.
- Clinical instruction and evaluation of students.
- Maintaining student clinical records.
- Ensuring student and client confidentiality.
- Completing clinical evaluation forms for each student and discussing with students at designated intervals.
- Attending staff meetings.
- Determining clinical grades and recording appropriately.
- Assisting with the development of clinical syllabi and orientation information.
- Other duties as deemed necessary for the function of the college.

Required Qualifications:
- Hold a current license to practice dental hygiene in Missouri.
Education/Experience:
- For didactic instructors: Bachelor's degree and three years related industry experience and demonstrated record of teaching excellence preferred. Demonstrated student centeredness. Preference given to those with previous community college experience.
- For clinic or lab instructors: Bachelor's degree and three years related industry experience and demonstrated record of teaching excellence preferred. Associates degrees may be accepted. Demonstrated student centeredness. Preference given to those with previous community college experience.
Skills:
- Have a working knowledge of computers as a medium to manage and improve instruction.
- The ability to interact with a broad range of people both on and off campus in a positive manner.
- Show evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Possess an understanding of the range of needs the college students may represent.
- Possess commitment to the philosophy and mission of the community college.
- Willingness to improve instruction through professional development including pedagogy and technology.
