Loan Underwriter

State Credit Union is seeking a Loan Underwriter in our Loan Administration area in Columbia, SC.

A Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is required. Two years' experience in a lending environment with an additional background in loan underwriting and experience in credit union/financial institution operations, policies and procedures is preferred.

Duties Of The Position Include

• Review member loan requests and offer timely decisions that are consistent with SCU's appetite for risk.
• Assist Loan Officers with reaching their volume goals by offering cross-sales of other loan products and up-sales of loan request amounts.
• Accurately calculate debt-to-income ratios and disposable income amounts by processing TAT adjustments correctly.
  
  

The position will require excellent computer, math and analytical skills and entail making approval decisions on most loan requests. All applicants must be able to multitask in a high paced environment and have outstanding communication skills. Applicants must have proficiency with Microsoft Office Programs, including Excel. Applicants' Excel knowledge will be assessed by way of a standardized test.
