Are you passionate about helping lawyers build better practices? Do you enjoy blending innovation, education, and technology to solve problems and drive meaningful change? The State Bar of Michigan (SBM) is looking for a dynamic and service-oriented professional to lead our Practice Management Resource Center (PMRC).
As the PMRC leader, you’ll support attorneys in building and sustaining effective, ethical, and efficient law practices through practical tools, targeted education, and personalized assistance.
What You’ll Do
- Lead & Innovate: Develop and manage tools, trainings, and resources to support lawyers in all aspects of practice management — from business planning and client communication to compliance and risk management.
- Educate & Advocate: Deliver engaging content through presentations, podcasts, Bar Journal articles, and more.
- Support & Advise: Provide one-on-one guidance to attorneys via helpline, email, and in-person consultations.
- Collaborate & Create: Work across SBM departments and with national partners like the American Bar Association to ensure our members have access to the best tools and information.
- Shape Strategy: Use data, trends, and member feedback to plan relevant and impactful programming.
- Curate Resources: Build a user-friendly digital hub and vet vendors and tech solutions that support modern law firm operations.
What We’re Looking For
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) and active Bar membership in good standing.
- 1–3 years of legal experience, ideally in law firm or corporate legal settings.
- Passion for law practice operations, legal tech, and professional ethics.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills — you're a great listener, problem-solver, and collaborator.
- Comfort with technology tools and a willingness to stay ahead of evolving legal tech trends.
- A proactive, service-driven mindset and ability to work independently and cross-functionally.
