Job Summary
State Bakery BBQ is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Bartender with experience in bar concept development to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for mixology and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service. As a Bartender, you will be responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere, serving drinks, and ensuring that guests have an enjoyable experience. Your role will be pivotal in maintaining the bar's reputation for quality and hospitality.
We are looking for a candidate that has a knowledge of American Whiskey, enthusiasm for quality wines and proper wine service, and a hospitable personality, and excited to serve exceptional food paired to drink.
State Bakery BBQ is a fast pace counter service breakfast and lunch restaurant in Newfield outside of Ithaca. We are looking to expand our hours into the evenings to open a bar focusing on high quality drinks and local beers paired with our happy hour and evening dinner menu. We are a collection of industry professionals driven to create, serve, and develop culinary skills and share them with our guests. We work and grow together in a positive atmosphere on a mission to serve local, organic produce, pasture raised meats, imported specialty products from Europe and the Middle East to the surrounding area.
With room to grow we are looking for a person with experience and fresh ideas, excited to learn new skills in the industry and share their own.
Responsibilities
- Create a cocktail menu changing seasonally and paired to our menu geared toward our clientele.
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to standard recipes and customer preferences.
- Provide excellent customer service by engaging with patrons, taking orders, and offering recommendations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, including washing glassware and cleaning surfaces.
- Monitor customer behavior to ensure responsible alcohol service and compliance with legal regulations.
- Handle cash register transactions accurately, including processing payments and managing tabs.
- Assist in inventory management by tracking stock levels and reporting shortages to management, counting weekly inventory, costing recipes.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely service of food items when applicable.
- Uphold food safety standards and maintain a safe environment for both staff and customers.
Requirements
- Previous bartending experience is required 2 yrs
- Strong knowledge of food safety practices in a restaurant or bar setting.
- Excellent hospitality skills with a focus on customer satisfaction.
- Basic math skills for handling cash register transactions and managing tabs.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while managing time effectively.
- Experience in high-volume bars is a plus.
- Strong skills to promote drink specials and upsell menu items when appropriate.
- Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
