What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Accountant, Residential Lending position at Starwood Property Trust?
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare all accounting entries related to assigned areas and ensure the accuracy of accounts and balances
- Prepare monthly variance explanations for significant fluctuations of actual vs. planned results and trend analyses.
- Assist in preparation of quarterly and year-end financial schedules and related footnotes with adherence to departmental deadlines
- Prepare monthly bank account reconciliations
- Make recommendations to improve existing processes
- Assist with special projects/requests as necessary
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines
- Must be detail oriented with good communication and interpersonal abilities
- Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word
- PeopleSoft experience is a plus
- Skilled in trend analysis and explanation
- Ability to adapt to and thrive in a fast-paced environment
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (Masters preferred)
- CPA preferred or in process of completion
- 2 to 4 years in Public accounting preferred
