The Tier I Support Technician is primarily responsible for providing technical support by phone to customers. The Tier I tech will work to resolve technical issues. If remote resolution of the issue is not possible the Tier I Tech will escalate the ticket to the Tier II or schedule dispatch to a field technician.
Must have:
- 1-2 years of technical support, and good understanding of networking fundamentals
- Basic troubleshooting skills
- Good understanding of LAN, WAN, and WLAN networks
- Good understanding of networking protocols (DHCP, IPv4, OSPF, and BGP)
- Basic understanding of Cisco networking devices (switches and routers)
- Experience working with customer management and ticketing software.
- Self-motivated, and able to work productively with minimal supervision
- Excellent communications skills, and ability to document technical issues
- Experience escalating trouble tickets in a timely manner
- Good organizational skills to manage different tasks
- Customer service training (ability to maintain call control and work with customers to resolve issues)
- Flexible schedule (on-call required)
Good to have:
- Cisco networking certifications (CCNA)
- Basic knowledge of microwave communications
