What are the responsibilities and job description for the Boys Youth Lacrosse Coach (Part-Time) position at Stars Lacrosse Club, LLC?
Job Overview:
Stars Lacrosse Club is seeking college graduates and/or current college students with lacrosse playing and/or coaching experience to join our coaching staff for our summer 2026 season. Practices will be held at two area high schools around the greater Danbury area. Practice hours are 5-8pm and there are 15 total sessions between June 3 and July 10.
**Seeking coaches with specialized skill sets as well as general lacrosse, especially goalie coaches, FOGO, and close defense.**
Responsibilities:
- Conduct skills assessments of current players and help tailor instruction based on abilities
- Provide individualized coaching and instruction to help athletes improve their skills
- Create a safe and inclusive environment for all participants regardless of skill or experience
- Teach proper techniques, rules of the game, and game strategies to improve lacrosse IQ
- Monitor and assess progress and provide feedback for improvement to the player, their family, and head coaches/program directors
- Manage behavior and maintain discipline during training sessions or competitions
- Collaborate with other coaches and staff members to coordinate practice plans/schedules, and attend tournament events to oversee teams during competition
Experience:
- Previous lacrosse playing experience required (3 years preferred); previous coaching experience at the youth level strongly preferred
- Knowledge of child development principles and behavior management techniques encouraged
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred
- USA Lacrosse coaching certification (Bronze or higher) and background check required
- HS graduates with playing experience are encouraged to apply as well
Skills:
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with players, parents, and staff members
- Strong leadership abilities to motivate and inspire student athletes
- Ability to adapt coaching techniques to meet the needs of individual athletes
- Organizational skills to manage schedules, equipment, and training sessions
We offer competitive compensation based on experience. Pay will range from $20-25/hr. for coaches based on experience and schedule/availability. We have openings for head coaches that will oversee all aspects of player and team development for their assigned squad, travel with them for events, etc., down to practice coaches who only attend scheduled practices for their teams with no expectation to travel.
