Maintenance Technician
Location: Athens Campus
Schedule: Full Time
3 weeks out of the month the schedule is 7am to 3pm Monday through Friday
On-call 1 week out of the month working 9am to 5pm : on-call during the week from 5pm to 7am and then Saturday and Sunday is 12am to 12pm

How you’ll contribute
A Maintenance Technician who excels in this role:
- Assists in assigned activities of plant operation functions which are necessary in maintaining the physical structures, HVAC, mechanical, electrical systems, utility systems and grounds of the hospital in an operative and safe working condition.
- Assists in maintaining performance improvement activities within the facility and participates in CQI activities.
- Performs general maintenance and repair duties to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the Physical Plant.
- Receives daily direction from the Director of Plant Operations via verbal or written communications. May share on call with Director of Plant Operations.
- Reports daily to the Director of Plant Operations regarding the physical and structural conditions of hospital facilities and the status of work in progress.
- Participates in the applications of standards of quality and productivity for the facility.
- Follows policies, procedures and standards of work performance for maintenance and repair of equipment, buildings and building systems.
- Assists in administering the maintenance program to ensure the uninterrupted operation of the entire physical plant.
- Works closely with other departments and administration. Negotiates priorities, completes job assignments, and requests orders of needed materials, supplies and parts.
- Performs and completes maintenance repair work, alterations, remodeling, minor construction, and checks out installation and servicing of mechanical and electrical equipment and building systems.
- Assists with maintaining stock levels of materials and parts within budgetary constraints.
- Assists in ensuring compliance with state and federal requirements in regards to the energy management program.
- Participates in performance improvement and information management activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat and clean and wears appropriate identification while on duty.
- Completes annual health, safety, and education requirements.
- Reports to work on time as scheduled; adheres to policies regarding notification of absence.
- Attend all mandatory in-services and staff meetings.
- Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
- Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
- Communicates the mission, ethics, and goals of the hospital, as well as the focus statement of the department.
- Consistently demonstrates Guest Relation’s skills to patients, physicians, visitors, employees, and any other individuals with whom they may come in contact.
- Consistently follows departmental and hospital Health, Safety, Hazardous Materials policies and procedures.
- Conduct job responsibilities in accordance with HIPAA privacy laws, follow hospital policy in provision of patient confidentiality. Able to identify patient confidentiality issues and reports to proper hospital personnel immediately.
- Conducts job responsibilities in accordance with standards set forth in LifePoint’s Code of Conduct, LifePoint’s policy and procedures, applicable federal and state laws, and applicable standards.

What we’re looking for
An ideal candidate for this position will have critical thinking skills, exercise decisive judgment, and be able to work with minimal supervision. They must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Clear Motor Vehicle Record is required.
- Previous experience in hospital maintenance is preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and written.
- Basic computer knowledge is needed.
Physical and Safety Requirements:
Good general health and stress coping ability. Full mobility and ability to participate in vigorous activity. Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50lbs. Ability to clearly and effectively communicate with all constituents (patients, families, peers, and other healthcare team members) as needed for assessment, intervention, and professional development. Possess near vision acuity for accurate reading of equipment and recording data or measurements.
