Job Summary:
As a Commercial Lines Specialist at Starr-Mathews Agency, you will play a key role in building internal relationships with our Account Managers & Producers, ensuring they receive timely turnaround on document requests. Your dedication to internal customer satisfaction, your problem-solving skills, and growing your insurance expertise will be vital in helping our clients protect what matters most.
Position Summary:
1. Document Preparation: Develop an understanding of key responsibilities within Starr-Mathews. Field requests from Account Managers & Executive Client Managers.
2. Responsibilities: The CL Specialist responsibilities will include:
- Prepare Auto ID cards
- Prepare Certificates of Insurance
- Provide Evidence of Property Insurance forms
- Act as initial contact for any NOC notifications
- Update policy vehicle and driver information
- Send policy schedules for internal inquiries
- Run MVR reports for internal inquiries
- Create and send policy changes
3. Role Expectations: The expectations of this role will be for the CL Specialist to gain exposure to the tasks mentioned above, while developing a mastery of these tasks over time.
4. Mastery Timeline: The CL Specialist should master the tasks listed above over a six (6) to twelve (12) month time period. Upon mastery, the CL Specialist should focus on gaining knowledge and exposure to the Account Manager role.
5. Areas of Focus For Future Role: Upon mastery of responsibilities listed above, the employee will broaden their scope of work by focusing on steps for the Account Manager role. Areas of focus for this role will consist of:
- Understand policy review procedures and expectations
- Prepare checkerboards independently
- Prepare proposals for Account Managers
- Transition into direct relationship with accounts
- Understand billing mechanics and coordinate with Accounting Department
- Build close relationship with Account Managers & Producers

- Property, Casualty Agents License is desirable.
- Knowledge of insurance products and usage is desirable.
- Knowledge of insurance markets and reference to markets is desirable.
- Knowledge of insurance rating and underwriting procedures is desirable.
- Familiarity with computers, Email, Excel and Word processing programs.
Working Conditions
- Fast-paced environment with significant telephone and personal disruption. Large number of multiple steps in complex system performed with accuracy and speed is essential to the successful completion of tasks.
