StarMark Imaging is a commercial photo finishing lab in the Hampton Roads area that serves professional photographers nationwide. We provide end-user fulfillment services such as image manipulation, print services, and personalized products. This is for the position of a Lab Technician. This position is responsible for overseeing general production methodology, workflow, maintenance, troubleshooting, and training. The Lab Technician works to maximize efficiency and accuracy to support our customers in a timely manner, and is responsible for the output of the shift as a whole.
Responsibilities
- Ensures daily and weekly goals are met.
- Ensures assignments are complete and accurate for specific tasks.
- Ensures productivity metrics are met for turnaround times and pace is kept daily.
- Communicates with ownership and team members for delegation of tasks, gives performance feedback, and comments on any productivity or performance issues.
- Performs day to day tasks such as operating / maintaining lab equipment, machinery, and computer software to turn materials into finished products, editing images per customer’s specifications, and preparing for shipments.
- Monitors photo finishing equipment and daily maintenance to ensure operations are not impacted, and quality is consistent.
- Notifies superiors regarding materials inventory when needed.
- Interacts with customers (either in-person or by phone / email) on a daily basis to answer questions and understand their needs to better assist.
- Additional tasks not included in the position description above may need to be performed.
Position Details:
We are open Monday thru Friday. Hours of operation are 8:00am-5:00pm
Required Skills:
- Candidates with recent, consistent experience working in a photo lab environment or similar environment will be given preference for this position.
- PC operating systems - must be computer savvy / tech literate and are able to handle digital files.
- Digital camera / photography skills
- Office related apps (Microsoft Office Suite, Google Docs/Sheets/Drive, etc.)
- Wet and Dry Lab Printing Equipment (Noritsu, Canon, Epson, etc..) and the ability to understand how to operate and maintain
- Photo lab related software - Kodak DP2, Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Lightroom), color management software
- Must have an eye for color, skin tones, and retouching. Detail oriented is critical.
- Customer Service Skills (front of house/POS operations, retail management, customer assistance)
- Ability to multitask during our volume seasons.
- Must be able to lift upwards of 50lbs when accepting deliveries.
