Smart Home & Low Voltage Technician
Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Smart Home & Low Voltage Technician to join our team. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys blending technology, craftsmanship, and design. The ideal candidate will have experience with low voltage systems, home automation, and the ability to perform light woodworking/finish carpentry to support custom installations such as starlight ceilings, LED coves, and integrated smart-home solutions.
Duties
- Install, configure, and maintain smart home systems including lighting control, audio/video distribution, automation hubs, and surveillance.
- Perform low voltage installations including CCTV, access control, and structured cabling.
- Build and install wood framing, coves, and support structures for stretch ceilings, LED tracks, and acoustic panels.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and woodworking techniques to ensure precise, clean finishes in all installs.
- Troubleshoot and service existing smart home and low voltage systems.
- Collaborate with clients, designers, and other trades to deliver seamless, high-end installations.
- Maintain accurate records of projects, service calls, and system documentation.
- Stay current on emerging smart-home technologies (Matter, Zigbee, Control4, Home Assistant, etc.) and bring ideas for integration into projects.
Requirements
- Proven experience in low voltage installations (CCTV, networking, access control, audio/video).
- Strong understanding of smart home ecosystems (Control4, Home Assistant, Crestron, Lutron, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Familiarity with networking principles and remote access tools.
- Proficiency with woodworking and finish carpentry tools (saws, routers, drills, laser levels, etc.).
- Attention to detail with ability to deliver clean, luxury-grade finishes.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and a customer-first mindset.
- Background in construction, cabinetry, or interior finishes is highly valued.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $24.00 - $29.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 40 per week
