The Starkville Daily News is looking for a Production Assistant
Position Overview:
This employee will work as part of the newspaper production team, helping produce, package, and distribute printed products.
Key Responsibilities:
· Assist with operating the printing press
· Insert flyers into newspapers
· Label and package newspapers
· Deliver newspapers and printed products
· Drive company vehicles to post offices and newspaper dealers
· Maintain and service printing equipment
· Operate a forklift
· Use hand tools and perform basic mechanical tasks
· Move newsprint rolls and other materials
· Perform other production-related duties as assigned
Requirements:
· At least 18 years old
· Valid driver's license
· Clean driving record
· Must be insurable
· Mechanical aptitude
· Detail-oriented
· Ability to operate a forklift (or learn)
· Ability to use hand tools
· Able to climb ladders
· Able to lift heavy paper rolls, parts and bundles of printed products
· Able to stand, bend, and work on your feet for long periods
Schedule:
· Evening to night shift, approximately 8-hour shifts
· Typical hours may be around 5:00 PM to 1:00 AM, depending on production needs
· Must be available for shifts weekdays, weekends and some holidays
· Flexible scheduling required
