JOB SUMMARY DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE OF JOB

This position is responsible for fixturing, testing, reporting, building, reworking, and troubleshooting components, subassemblies, and final device-level verification and characterization tests under the general instructions of engineers from the Electrical Engineering (EE) team. The test systems include acoustic, electric, magnetic, electromagnetic, and dimensional setups. Working with test engineers, this position is responsible for finding test station bug fixes, evaluating improvements, executing Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (R&R), collecting time studies, and creating/maintaining/releasing procedures. Additionally, this position is responsible for all Electrical Engineers’ equipment tracking, organizing, maintenance, and calibration. Finally, this position is responsible for mentoring, training, and leading junior technicians.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/RESULTS 

  • Test, build, rework, and troubleshoot with the Electrical Engineering team
    • Execute testing for all hearing aid components, subassemblies, and final device at all RnD stages
    • Building new and reworking existing fixtures, components, subassemblies, and/or devices at the direction of EE
    • Execute first-level data analysis, report generation, and troubleshooting at EE’s request
  • Perform test system verification, maintenance, and upkeep
    • Execute new test system verification and Gage R&R testing
    • Execute troubleshooting and bug reporting of existing test systems and system upgrades
    • Execute test system procedure creation, updates, and adherence
  • Perform equipment tracking, maintenance, and calibration
    • Execute tracking and upkeep of test equipment condition and calibration status
    • Execute test system fixture creation, organization, and repair
    • Keep test environments clean/tidy, and up-to-date with procedures
  • Perform senior-level Technician duties.
    • Mentor, train, and provide work coordination to junior technicians.
    • Continuously monitor adherence to standards/procedures and find opportunities to improve consistent test output
    • Coordinate test system, procedure, and maintenance improvement 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • Associate degree/certificate in electronic technology or equivalent in a related field

Experience 

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in electronics and/or acoustic test or equivalent

Knowledge / Technical Requirements 

  • Advanced knowledge of acoustics, vibration, and electricity
  • Advanced knowledge of hearing aid components
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of industry standards (e.g. ANSI, IEC, IPC)
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Word, Excel)
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with electronic and/or test equipment
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with equipment procurement, setup, maintenance, and calibration

  • Standard office equipment: acoustic test chambers, RF test chambers, electronics test equipment, microscope, soldering iron, UV light, precision hand tools, ESD Guns

Salary and Other Compensation:

The target pay rate for this position is between $26.65 - $36.35 per hour. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include: geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is eligible for a bonus based upon performance results. There is no guarantee of payout.
