Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced person with a strong mechanical aptitude and skills to join our manufacturing team. This is a hands-on role requiring flexibility with new challenges as you assemble machines and run both manual and CNC lathes and mills to make parts.
This job is not machining only. You will build machines from drawings and work with others to keep projects moving forward so customer equipment ships on time. The ideal candidate already knows how to assemble machinery and can run a manual lathe. This candidate will be detail-oriented, self-starting, and able to think up solutions without constant direction. You will also paint, stock, package, ship, and receive.
CNC programming and G-code / M-code are not required for this role. Some ability to set up and run existing CNC lathe programs and make parts to print is required. Programming skill is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble industrial machinery and mechanical subassemblies from drawings and work instructions.
- Fit, align, and fasten frames, shafts, bearings, guards, and other mechanical components.
- Set up and operate manual and CNC lathes and mills to produce, modify, and fit parts.
- Read and interpret blueprints and assembly drawings and work to specified dimensions and fits.
- Use precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, indicators, gauges) to check your own work.
- Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and other shop staff when a part or assembly needs a different approach.
- Keep a safe, organized work area and follow shop safety standards.
- Operate a forklift as needed.
- Paint parts and assemblies as required for shipment.
- Stock parts and count inventory.
- Package, crate, ship, and receive parts and finished equipment.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience assembling machinery or mechanical equipment in a manufacturing facility or machine shop.
- Proven experience setting up and running a manual lathe.
- Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Ability to use precision measuring tools and produce accurate, high-quality work.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Dependable attendance and reliable transportation.
- Be physically able to work safely in a machine shop, including standing for extended periods and lifting, fitting, and assembling machine components as regular shop-floor work.
Preferred Qualifications
- CNC programming or G-code / M-code knowledge.
- Experience building custom or low-volume industrial equipment.
- Experience with Haas lathes and mills.
- Forklift experience.
- Ability to cross-train on other shop work.
Benefits
- $30–36 per hour, based on experience
- Quarterly profit-based bonuses plus a year-end bonus
- 401(k) with company match
- Earn paid time off from day one
