Are you passionate about helping others achieve their goals and build independence? Starkey is seeking a Community Employment Specialist to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in obtaining and maintaining meaningful employment within the community.
In this rewarding role, you will provide job coaching, workplace support, and advocacy while helping individuals develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed in competitive employment settings.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provide training, supervision, and support to individuals participating in Supported Employment services.
- Assist individuals in developing job skills, workplace behaviors, communication skills, and social interactions necessary for successful employment.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with community employers.
- Coordinate with employers regarding schedules, accommodations, workplace modifications, and job expectations.
- Monitor employment progress and provide ongoing coaching and support as needed.
- Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of individuals served while promoting independence and self-advocacy.
- Maintain required documentation and service records in accordance with agency and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Valid Kansas driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
