Job Title: Painter

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Pay: $22.20. After 6 Months of Service, the rate will increase to $23.37.

Full-Time: M-F 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

General Purpose:

To perform the full range of painting duties related to the care and maintenance of all Agency-owned buildings, facilities, and units.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare all interior and exterior building surfaces for painting.
  • Drywall Patching when necessary.
  • Verify that surfaces and substrate conditions are ready to receive paint as instructed by product manufacturers.
  • Prepare areas for painting to protect other surfaces from being exposed to the application of paint.
  • Perform painting by using hand equipment as well as airdriven mechanical equipment.
  • Maintain all equipment used in carrying out work responsibilities.
  • Perform related tasks assigned, including a full range of Painter duties and the initial duties of a Maintenance Worker.
  • Maintains a record of acceptable attendance and punctuality.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Certification/Experience

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Two years of building and painting experience

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Procedures, methods, techniques, materials, tools, and equipment used in residential building painting.
  • Basic principles of arithmetic.
  • Proper use and care of tools and equipment.
  • Safe Lifting and Carrying Techniques.
  • Occupational hazards and safety precautions of building painting, including leadsafe paint practices.
  • Basic Microsoft Word, Excel, and other property management software programs (YARDI).
  • Ability to maintain accurate and complete records.
  • Estimate necessary materials, supplies, and associated costs.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Physical Requirements:

  • The position will require sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, lying, and climbing to perform all job duties. Frequently lift/transport up to 100 pounds. Performing work above your head.

Working Conditions:

  • This position involves exposure to a variety of conditions, including, but not limited to, extremes in temperature, low and high, exposure to dust, lowlighting areas, and mechanical and electrical hazards. Proper Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn. Working outdoors and indoors. Working in tight spaces with minimum room to move about.
