Job Description: Buyer/Inventory Coordinator

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Pay: $20.00/hr

Full-Time: M-F 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

General Purpose

The Buyer/Inventory Coordinator is responsible for purchasing materials, supplies, and equipment and assisting with inventory control at all SMHA warehouse locations. This position ensures purchasing and inventory activities are conducted in compliance with applicable regulations, Agency policies, and procedures while supporting SMHA's mission and operational goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process purchase requisitions and orders for materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • Review vendor quotes for accuracy and compliance with procurement requirements.
  • Conduct compliance checks; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory transfers and adjustments.
  • Track backorders and delayed deliveries; identify alternative products or vendors when necessary.
  • Assist Agency staff with purchasing procedures and inventoryrelated questions.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing and inventory records and prepare reports as required.
  • Attend required meetings and training programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Assist in preparation and conducting annual physical inventory.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years of purchasing, procurement, inventory control, or warehouse experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Ohio driver's license and ability to meet SMHA insurability requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn Yardi and other Agency software.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problemsolving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

  • Knowledge of purchasing, inventory control, and warehouse operations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Strong attention to detail and recordkeeping skills.
  • Ability to analyze inventory data and prepare reports.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with staff, vendors, and contractors.
  • Ability to travel between SMHA properties and warehouse locations.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and use hands to operate office equipment and inventory-related tools. The employee must occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision and the ability to view computer screens for extended periods. The employee must be able to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, electronically, and in writing.

Working Conditions

Work is performed primarily in an office, warehouse, and field environment. The employee will regularly travel between SMHA facilities and warehouse locations and may occasionally be exposed to varying weather conditions, dust, and moderate noise levels associated with warehouse and maintenance operations.
