ASSISTANT SANITARY ENGINEER
The Board of Stark County Commissioners is now accepting applicants for the position of Assistant
Sanitary Engineer. Under the general direction of the Stark County Sanitary Engineer, the Assistant
Sanitary Engineer will provide professional engineering assistance for all facets of the Stark County
Metropolitan Sewer District as well as assisting in the management of 90 employees.

A sample of illustrative duties include:
- Assist the Sanitary Engineer with management of the department’s operation, e.g. delegate and monitors assignments; recommends personnel decisions; supervises and coordinates activities of management and subordinate personnel;
- Assist in the review of engineering design work to ensure compliance with codes, regulations, etc.;
- Meet with elected officials, consultants, vendors and citizens to discuss department related activities;
- Make presentations to the public for the purposes of providing information about water and wastewater projects and improvements;
- Assist in the departmental budget analyses and assess fees, charges and rates for services;
- Develop departmental rules, regulations, policies and procedures as needed;
- Designs or assists in the design of sanitary sewer collection and water distribution projects;
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Possession of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, preferably Civil Engineering;
- State certification as a Registered Professional Engineer;
- At least seven (7) years of experience in engineering, including public works projects;
- Must have a valid State of Ohio driver’s license and be insurable under the County’s auto policy.
Compensation and Benefits:
The range for this position is set between $110,000 and $120,000 annually. Final compensation will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate. This position is eligible for health, dental and vision insurance and OPERS retirement benefits.
