What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Development Representative position at Starfish Computer Corporation?
Starfish Computer Corporation’s Business Development Representative will support new business development activities by discovering, prospecting, and introducing prospective clients to Starfish Computer Corporation’s sales cycle.
The successful candidate will be passionate about starting a career in business development. Successful candidates will be looking to develop skills in sales outreach and marketing support; their skills in networking, cold calling, email campaign development and follow-up; as well as other sales, advertising, and marketing communications tactics.
Sales activity for this role will include hosting virtual meetings, emailing, phone calls, and onsite meetings/marketing events (if necessary). The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, charismatic, and organized – helping achieve our company revenue goals and to expand our managed services customer base.
Job Functions
Business Development
- Be the first point of contact between the prospect and Starfish Computer.
- Support new business opportunities by contacting and creating relationships with potential customers.
- Meet monthly outreach and qualified opportunities goals that support overall sales pipeline growth.
- Provide business development activity statistics and KPI progress to sales leadership.
- Field inbound inquiries via telephone and email.
- Qualify leads as they become available.
- Manage the distribution of content to generated marketing lists.
- Coordinate set up, scheduling, and making appointments for meetings between client prospects and Starfish Account Managers.
Marketing
- Tailor marketing materials for sales outreach.
- Create content that is specific and related to market trends/current events.
- Manage the distribution of content to established prospect base.
- Track and measure results of marketing campaigns in organized reports.
- Document successes and failures for alterations of future marketing efforts.
Documentation
- Maintain a well-organized CRM database for account management and reporting.
- Prepare reports and presentations for weekly/monthly sales meetings.
- Generate customer facing content and reports/presentations when necessary.
- Prepare RFQ responses for customers utilizing bid platforms – government entities,
municipalities, etc.
Requirements, Skills & Experience
- Demonstrable passion to develop a career in business development, including deep curiosity and penetrating intellect, with an ability to quickly understand client needs and how they may align to Starfish Computer Corporation’s solutions.
- An ability to build excellent client rapport, and the ability to cultivate and manage relationships.
- Comfortable working in an ambitious, fast paced company experiencing rapid growth. This requires self-direction and flexibility to navigate the evolving business landscape.
- Must be able to work independently and/or in a team environment.
- Self-motivated and accountable in support of clients and team members.
- Solid time management and organizational skills to efficiently complete assigned tasks.
- Excellent communication skills to ensure strong client and prospective client experiences.
- Ability to provide knowledge transfer to other members of the support team.
- Ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of colleagues and clients.
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience. A concentration is sales or marketing is a nice to have.
