Superintendent

Starcon Industries
San Diego, CA Full Time
POSTED ON 11/6/2025
AVAILABLE BEFORE 12/5/2025

The Opportunity

Starcon Industries is seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead the on-site construction operations of our multifamily and mixed-use development projects. This role is responsible for managing field personnel, coordinating subcontractors, and ensuring that all work is performed safely, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards.

The Superintendent will report directly to the Director of Construction and serve as the primary on-site representative for Starcon Industries. This position plays a key role in driving project execution, maintaining budgets and timelines, and fostering a culture of collaboration, safety, and accountability. Because Starcon designs and builds its own projects through an affiliated general contracting company, this position offers the opportunity to be deeply involved in projects from design through delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all daily on-site construction activities, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project plans and specifications.
  • Manage and coordinate subcontractors, foremen, and site personnel, providing clear direction and maintaining high standards of workmanship and productivity.
  • Develop, monitor, and update project schedules using CPM or equivalent tools to ensure timely completion of all phases.
  • Conduct daily and weekly site meetings with subcontractors and staff to review progress, resolve conflicts, and anticipate potential issues.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety standards and company policies; proactively identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Review and interpret drawings, specifications, and submittals; identify discrepancies and coordinate with project management to resolve issues.
  • Maintain accurate documentation including daily reports, time sheets, change orders, work logs, and subcontractor progress tracking.
  • Coordinate inspections and ensure work complies with all applicable codes and regulations.
  • Manage project close-out, including punch list completion, system testing, and turnover to the owner.
  • Foster positive relationships with owners, architects, engineers, inspectors, and vendors, representing Starcon Industries with professionalism and integrity.
  • Mentor and support Assistant Superintendents and field staff to promote growth and consistency in construction standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field preferred; equivalent field experience accepted.
  • Minimum 5–7 years of construction site leadership experience, with at least 3 years as a Superintendent on ground-up multifamily or commercial projects.
  • OSHA 30-hour certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • In-depth knowledge of construction means and methods, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, and quality assurance.
  • Proficiency in construction management software (Procore preferred), scheduling tools (MS Project or equivalent), and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts across multiple trades.
  • Proven ability to lead teams under pressure, manage complex logistics, and resolve field conflicts effectively.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

Work Ethic & Values

  • High level of integrity and commitment to quality craftsmanship.
  • Strong sense of accountability and ownership for project outcomes.
  • Ability to make critical decisions in fast-paced environments.
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive, solutions-driven mindset.
  • Passion for teamwork and mentoring others to achieve excellence.
