What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounts Payable Accountant position at StarCare Specialty Health System?
StarCare Specialty Health System (StarCare) is seeking a full time Accounts Payable Staff Accountant to join its outstanding Accounting Team!
Assist with accounts payable functions, trust fund accountant functions and payroll duties for the company under the supervision of the Accounts Payable/Payroll supervisor. Works under moderate supervision, with some latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Responsibilities:
- Review company mileage for accuracy, approve and import into Company accounting system
- Processes expenditures/credit memos submitted into Company expense software; generates payments accordingly after expenses have been approved
- Attach any subsequent documentation received into the Company accounting system to complete a vendor/purchase record
- Verifies allocation of appropriate billing/reporting units
- Verify accuracy of invoices, packing slips, etc. with invoices and Purchase Cards and resolve discrepancies
- Process electronic payment files
- Prepare and maintain monthly vendor analysis reports
- Review all payment requests for compliance with company procurement policies
- Correspond professionally via phone, letters or email with both external and internal vendors
- Maintain accurate vendor records including updating direct deposit information, vendor addresses, EIN’s, COIs, W9’s, contracts, and any other information needed for a complete vendor record
- Process annual 1099s
- Compiles records for various financial audits with external agencies
- Prepare assigned reconciliations related to accounts payable accounts
- Other duties assigned to support the Accounting department of StarCare
Schedule: This is a full-time/non-exempt position scheduled Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm, with flexibility to meet the needs of the department.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
- 0-2 years of proven experience in accounts payable preferred.
- Knowledge of accounting and financial operations.
Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- High degree of attention to detail.
- Skill in the use of office equipment, computers, and associated software applications.
Additional Requirements:
- Must pass pre-hire criminal background check and drug screen.
- Must have a valid Texas driver's license, liability auto insurance, and be insurable under the organization's insurance.
