What are the responsibilities and job description for the Graphic Designer Temp position at Starboard Group?
This position is responsible for designing port shopping materials including maps, and projects for all internal and external clients. These projects include all creative and design elements of marketing projects for assigned cruise line(s), as well as quality and timeliness of deliverables across a range of print, broadcast and digital media, from concepts through to final artwork.

Some flexibility in hours is permitted, employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday and must work 30 hours each week to maintain full-time status. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Physical Demands
Office environment with frequent sitting, walking and standing, occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and balancing. Frequent use of eye, hand and finger coordination enabling use of office machinery. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds. Oral and auditory enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication automated devise such as the telephone.

What You’ll Be Doing
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Projects: Assists in the design and maintaining of In House projects for Creative Services, Port Shopping, video and any other internal departments and external clients. Ensures brand consistency for all projects. Creates and develops marketing deliverables from concept through to production for a variety of print, broadcast and digital media (i.e., catalogs, newsletters, events, flyers, posters, packaging, signage, video & TV, etc.), to include but not limited to concepts, design, layout, and preparing files for production
- Builds and maintains knowledge base of marketing activities for assigned cruise lines, to include but not limited to brand identity, guest demographics, brand line-ups, itineraries, event and promo calendars, onboard media and marketing channels, brand assets
- Designs and maintains all Port Shopping collateral. Ensures brand consistency throughout all materials. Organizes files on the server for inter-department accessibility.
- Visual Illustrator: Develops and maintains Visual Illustrator files. Works with Sales and Port Shopping to update and prep for New Season. Creates fresh, new designs for VI while adhering to brand consistency. Works with Port Shopping for distribution to fleet.
- FTP Website: Maintains content updated and organized. Ensures it is user-friendly. Keeps a secure access to the website and updates password changes.
- Maps: Update, redesign, create and maintain all regional maps including Caribbean, Australia, Hawaii, Alaska, Canada/New England, Europe, Mexican Riviera, Bermuda, etc. Adheres to workflow of New Season Prep for all maps and ensures client guidelines are implemented by deadline. Creates maps in cruise line required languages. Creates vector illustrations of street maps per area.
- Publication Ads: Design and update ads for Publications as needed.
- Assists in creating style guides for all materials for standardization and keep fresh, new approaches for maximizing projects.
Qualifications
Education And Experience
- 1-3 Years of Experience
- Associate's Degree Required
- Knowledge and experience in the publishing and design industry. Proficient in design programs: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, PowerPoint is required for all projects
- Strong communication skills in both written and verbal form to effectively communicate with internal/external clients
- Strong organizational abilities, including time and resource management in a high pressure environment. Strong understanding of the balance of creativity and cost effectiveness; the creative concept vs. the actual budget while managing multiple projects on challenging deadlines
