Job Description
Job Purpose:
Maintains, organizes, oversees, and coordinates extracurricular programs and activities
The Activities Director will play a vital role in fostering a vibrant and engaging school community by providing leadership, organization, and support for a wide range of student activities.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in education; master's degree preferred.
- Previous experience in student activities administration, coaching, or related roles preferred.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
Position Type:
- Full-time

- Contract Hours: 200 days, 8 hours a day, generally follows school academic and WHSAA calendar
- Reporting to: Building Principal(s) of assigned school(s) and Superintendent
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
- Develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive activities program that aligns with the school's mission, values, and educational objectives.
- Coordinate and supervise all aspects of extracurricular activities, including clubs, sports, student government, etc.
- Recruit, train, and mentor coaches, advisors, and volunteers involved in extracurricular activities, fostering a culture of collaboration, excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Manage and allocate budgets, oversee fundraising efforts, and ensure efficient use of financial resources to support student activities.
- Ensure compliance with all school policies, procedures, and regulations governing extracurricular programs and student participation, prioritizing the safety and well-being of students and staff.
- Cultivate positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and community members to promote participation, solicit feedback, and enhance support for extracurricular programs.
- Coordinate logistical arrangements for activities and events, including transportation, facilities, equipment, and other resources, to ensure successful and well-organized experiences.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of activities and programs.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Shares supervision and evaluation of coaches/advisors and employees with the Principal and assistant principal.
Essential Functions of Position (Other duties may be assigned):
- Assumes a key role in selecting and assigning Coaches/Advisors in collaboration with the building Principal and District Office leadership.
- Assumes a key role in verification of PTSB Certifications.
- Assumes a key role in assisting the Principal in evaluating all Head Coaches/Advisors.
- Assumes a key role in the orientation and in-service training of Coaches/Advisors.
- Assumes a key role in assisting the Head Coach/Advisors in evaluating all Assistant Coaches.
- Assumes a key role in the supervision of Star Valley High School athletic/activities events.
- Assumes a key role in creating and managing the activities budget.
- Responsible for the organization and scheduling of athletic events and activities.
- Responsible for the arrangements of transportation for away activities.
- Responsible for the coordination of set up and take down of events.
- Responsible for maintaining all records pertinent to Star Valley High School athletics/activities (eligibility forms, physicals, equipment purchase requests, competition information, rosters, etc.).
- Responsible for communicating schedules, departure times, and all things pertinent to away events.
- Represents the school in matters of interscholastic athletics with the Wyoming High School Activities Association.
- Establishes and enforces the physical, academic, and training requirements of eligibility for participation.
- Fosters good school-parent relations by maintaining communications relative to rules and regulations on athletics/activities.
- Contracts the officials for all home contests.
In accordance with policy GBEC and procedure GBEC-R all new employees must submit to a pre-employment drug and alcohol test. Employee must consent to and provide the necessary documentation (fingerprinting, etc.) to allow for a criminal background check.
