Maintenance Technician
Petaluma, CA
1st shift: 5am start time
Direct Hire
Compensation: $33.00 - $43.00 per hour DOE
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician III to join a growing manufacturing team in Petaluma. This is a senior-level maintenance role responsible for advanced troubleshooting, equipment reliability, automation support, and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on technical expert with strong electrical, mechanical, PLC, and controls experience in a fast-paced production environment.

As a Maintenance Technician III, you'll play a critical role in maintaining and improving manufacturing equipment, leading advanced troubleshooting efforts, supporting automation systems, and mentoring fellow technicians. You'll have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge controls, robotics, and reliability initiatives that directly impact production success.

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on technical expert with strong electrical, mechanical, PLC, and controls experience in a fast-paced production environment.
What Will You Do?
Do you enjoy solving complex equipment challenges and keeping production operations running at peak performance? As a Maintenance Technician III, you'll play a critical role in maintaining and improving manufacturing equipment, leading advanced troubleshooting efforts, supporting automation systems, and mentoring fellow technicians. You'll have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge controls, robotics, and reliability initiatives that directly impact production success.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical, PLC, controls, and automation issues.
- Program, modify, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servo systems, and related controls equipment.
- Lead equipment installations, capital improvement projects, and commissioning activities.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement long-term corrective actions to improve reliability.
- Mentor and train maintenance team members on advanced troubleshooting and maintenance practices.
- 10 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, food production experience preferred.
- Advanced PLC programming and troubleshooting experience, preferably with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar platforms.
- Strong electrical and controls troubleshooting skills, including VFDs, servo drives, sensors, and instrumentation.
- Experience maintaining industrial automation and robotic systems.
- Proficiency with CMMS systems, preventive maintenance programs, and root cause analysis methodologies.
- High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or certification preferred.
- Experience with welding, fabrication, and reading electrical schematics.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to support off-hours projects and participate in on-call rotations as needed.
