What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Labor / Equipment Operator position at Star of the West?
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Perform general labor duties in an open-yard, multi-building ag facility
- Operate forklift and skid steer
- Load fertilizer spreaders and handle agricultural chemicals safely
- Dump grain trucks at the receiving pit
- Load outgoing grain trucks
- Maintain clean and safe work areas
- Perform deliveries when applicable, depending on CDL status
- Provide very good customer service when interacting with customers and drivers
Minimum Requirements
- Ability to lift 75 lbs and perform physical labor
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to work significant overtime and weekends during peak agricultural seasons
- Equipment operation experience preferred
- CDL is a plus, but not required
- Strong work ethic, reliable attendance, and excellent customer service skillsd
Skills and abilities
- Strong mechanical and technical skills preferred
- Knowledge of agricultural crop protection and equipment
- Communication skills
- Problem Solving skill
- Able to adapt quickly in many different situations (customer requests, weather, etc.
Physical Demands
Physically able to perform all requirements including but not limited to:
- Ability to walk stairs and climb up/down and in and around equipment and facility
- Standing and walking for several hours for an extended period of time. Could be extended periods of sitting if driving.
- General cleaning and housekeeping
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
