Urgent Need for a Mental Health Monitor/Sitter (MHM/S) – Maricopa County, AZ
Facility: Correctional Health Services
Location: Phoenix, AZ
Shifts: 3 x 12-hour shifts weekly
Commitment: Minimum 13 Weeks
Opening: 1
Shift : AM
Pay Rates: $18/hr.
Service Description: Monitors patients on suicide watch, in therapeutic restraints, or otherwise at risk of self-harm or danger to others. Performs visual or video monitoring of patients and reports findings and observations to the licensed nurse. Completes and processes all required documentation in a legible, timely, and accurate manner. Reports and documents changes in the patient chart regarding patient activity. Follows the direction of the medical personnel in charge of the respective unit.
Responsibilities and Duties
- * Perform continuous visual or video monitoring of assigned patients
- * Observe and report changes in patient behavior or condition immediately
- * Document patient activity accurately and timely
- * Communicate findings clearly to licensed nursing staff
- * Follow unit direction from medical personnel
- * Maintain vigilance within a secure correctional environment
- * Maintain professional boundaries at all times
Supporting Documentation and Qualifications
- * High school diploma or GED
- * Experience viewing multiple monitors and observing patients
- * Minimum six months of clerical or support experience in a medical setting
- * Ability to clearly document and communicate observations
- Maricopa County Mandatory Compliance Requirements
Step #1 – Security and Background Clearance
- * Complete MCSO Application for Courtesy Identification
- * Sign PREA Acknowledgement (Zero Tolerance Policy)
- * Submit to Criminal History and Warrants Check
- * Complete Fingerprinting appointment with Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office
- * Must be at least 18 years of age
- * No sexually related offenses
- * Minimum one year since completion of probation, parole, or incarceration
- * No driver’s license suspension within the past year
- * Must disclose if a known person is incarcerated within the jail system
Step #2 – Health and Immunization Requirements
- * Current TB test (Skin test, QuantiFERON, T-Spot, or Chest X-Ray)
- * Hepatitis B vaccination series, titer, or signed declination
- * MMR vaccination documentation or titer
- * Varicella vaccination documentation, titer, or attestation of past infection
- * American Heart Association BLS/CPR (In-Person)
Step #3 – Physical and Workplace Requirements
- * Ability to perform CPR chest compressions
- * Ability to lift up to 35 pounds
- * Ability to push equipment and climb stairs
- * Commitment to four shifts per 28-day cycle
- * Signed Drug-Free Workplace Attestation
- * Signed Physical Performance Attestation
Step #4 – Additional Requirements
- * Compliance with jail dress code and prohibited item policy
- * No personal cell phones or smart devices allowed in secure areas
- * Badge must be worn at all times once issued
- * ASRS Retirement disclosure if applicable
- * All onboarding documentation must be submitted at least 10 working days prior to start date
