The senior team has an average of 30 years of investment experience including prior leadership experience at Blackstone / GSO, Fortress, Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, J.P. Morgan and Merrill Lynch.
Position Description:
- Assist with analysis & execution of purchases of portfolios of credit and equity investments in U.S. LMM funds (secondaries), primary LP investments into funds and to a lesser extent direct credit and equity investments alongside fund managers (co-investments) to U.S. based businesses with $5 - $50 million in EBITDA.
- Participate in all aspects of the transaction, including deal selection, pricing analysis, negotiation and execution.
- Prepare detailed investment committee memoranda and ensure financial model quality control.
- Participate in the on-going active management and monitoring of fund positions and underlying companies.
- Add value to other aspects of the overall business as an aligned partner assisting in building a leading U.S. LMM asset management business.
- Assist with additional junior team training & development including Star Mountain’s year-round internship program.
- Assist with investor follow-up requests relating to performance, portfolio analysis and other aspects, etc.
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree, ideally in finance and / or accounting.
- 3-5 years of total experience within some combination of secondaries, M&A, consulting, or principal investment activities in U.S. private businesses.
- Strong technical and analytical skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to take on material responsibility and accountability.
- Must have strong references available (at the appropriate time) from peers, subordinates and superiors.
- Team player with a positive attitude and great people skills.
- Willingness to travel nationwide as needed for new investment due diligence and portfolio monitoring activities.
Compensation:
The exact salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and performance during the selection process. Employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and other economics. Total compensation may vary by role, location, department, and individual performance.
