What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Manager position at Star Laundry?
The Job
You own the daily performance of the plant. Product moves through the building on schedule, at the quality our customers expect, at a cost that works. You manage shift supervisors, leads, and the maintenance team, and you are on the floor, not behind a desk. You report directly to the VP of Operations.
What You Will Do
- Run production across all shifts so every customer order finishes on time and complete
- Own and report the plant numbers daily: output per labor hour, quality and rework rate, equipment downtime, labor cost, and on time completion
- Keep the equipment running by working with maintenance on preventive care and getting ahead of breakdowns
- Lead supervisors and leads directly: set expectations, hold people accountable, keep management visible on the floor, and make sure every shift files its production report
- Enforce attendance, safety, and conduct standards consistently and fairly in a union environment
- Control waste, inventory loss, parts usage, and supply spend with accurate records
- Trace customer quality complaints back to a root cause on the floor and fix it
- Develop leads and supervisors so the plant runs on a system, not on one person
What You Bring
- Two or more years supervising people in a production, manufacturing, warehouse, distribution, or similar hands on operation
- You are comfortable being accountable for numbers and you act on them
- You can lead a large hourly workforce with firmness, consistency, and respect
- Mechanical common sense: you do not need to be a technician, but you should understand how a production line works and notice when something is off
- Bilingual English and Spanish strongly preferred
- Availability across shifts, including early mornings, nights, and weekends when the operation needs it
- A commitment to running a safe plant; we will train you on our OSHA and safety requirements
Pay: $58,930.13 - $70,969.63 per year
