What are the responsibilities and job description for the ORAS Specialist position at STAR Community Justice Center?
Position Summary:
The ORAS specialist is a position that is responsible for the risk assessment of new residents while reporting directly to the ORAS Manager.
General Responsibilities:
- Know and adhere to STAR’s policies and procedures
- Coordinates with all STAR departments
- Research legal history of all new intakes prior to arrival
- Conduct risk assessments by utilizing the Initial PREA Screening and ORAS assessment
- Maintain documentation to standard
- Maintains a professional and positive relationship with all court officials, probation offices, and jails for the counties STAR serves
Performance Evaluation:
Staff holding this position will be evaluated on the following intervals of employment: 90th day, 6 months, 1 year, and annually thereafter. The following domains will be assessed:
- Administrative Skills: Knowledge and Adherence to Policies and Procedures, Time Management, Organization, Technology Skills, Documentation, Communication Skills
- Work Ethic: Attendance, Initiative, Dependability, Dealing with Demanding Situations, Role Modeling, Team Player, Professional Development
- Position Skills: Knowledge of Program’s Treatment Model, Use of Redirection Techniques and Behavioral Reinforcement, Interviewing Skills, Development of Therapeutic Alliance, Community Partner Collaboration
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree or better in human service or criminal justice field is preferred
- A strong background with two years in the field of corrections preferred
- Valid driver’s license
