Court Services Specialist Job Description

Position Summary:

The Court Services Specialist works with designated county common pleas courts to facilitate screenings and intakes. They also assist residents with identified criminogenic & reentry needs before and after completion of the program.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

§  Report to the Community Justice Manager

§  Know and adhere to STAR’s policies and procedures

§  Coordinate/communicate with all other departments as needed

§  Ensure the department continuous compliance with all ACA, PREA, and departmental CBCF and BCS standards

§  Provide guidance and corrective actions to STAR residents as needed

§  Communicate with courts and Probation Officers

§  Appropriately document within the correct time frame

§  Coordinate with various community agencies

§  Suggest ways to make improve the program and/or processes for residents and staff

§  Complete any other jobs assigned by management

§  Adhere to all duties listed on the job duties form for the named position

PERFORMANCE EVALUATIONS:

§  Staff holding this position will be evaluated on the following intervals of employment: 90th day, 6 months, 1 year, and annually thereafter

§  The following domains will be assessed:

o  Administrative Skills: Knowledge and Adherence to Policies and Procedures, Time Management, Organization, Technology Skills, Documentation, Communication Skills

o  Work Ethic: Attendance, Initiative, Dependability, Dealing with Demanding Situations, Role Modeling, Team Player, Professional Development

o  Position Skills: Knowledge of STAR’s Treatment Model, Teaching Effectiveness, Use of Redirection Techniques and Behavioral Reinforcements, Effective Intervention Strategies, Probation Communication, Community Relations

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor’s Degree or better in human service or criminal justice field is required
• A strong background with two years in the field of corrections preferred
