Star Academy, a non-profit, non-public school, located in San Rafael, CA, serving students with learning differences in grades 3-post-secondary, is seeking a Part Time Director of Admissions for our Post High School program. Star Academy’s mission is to help students with complex learning differences experience academic success through a multisensory approach.
Our students face mild to moderate learning challenges such as: dyslexia, executive functioning deficits, dyscalculia, auditory processing, dysgraphia, ADHD and Autism.

Part-time Director of Admissions Position.

differences from third grade through post-high school. Our team of highly skilled teachers
and specialists provide an individually-tailored educational program which gives each
student the skills, knowledge and resources they need to advance academically and find

Position Overview:
The Director of Admissions plays a key leadership role in shaping and sustaining Star
Academy’s vibrant and mission-driven community. This position oversees all aspects of
student admissions and enrollment, from initial inquiry to student placement, ensuring
alignment with the school’s values and nonpublic school compliance requirements. The
Director partners closely with the administrative team, school districts, and families to
ensure a seamless admissions process that supports both the student’s educational
needs and the school’s strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the admissions process for the K–12 program, including
marketing and outreach, inquiry response, tours, file review, student intake
coordination and collaboration with the teaching and specialist teams.
- Build strong partnerships with referral partners including school districts,
advocates, lawyers, and families.
- Oversee application tracking, documentation, and compliance with California
Department of Education (CDE) nonpublic school requirements.
- Collaborate with the educational leadership team to assess student fit, and
placement based on academic, behavioral, and therapeutic profiles.
- Manage enrollment projections, data reporting, and student records related to
admissions.
- Lead marketing and outreach efforts to promote Star Academy’s programs and
mission.
- Maintain a warm, professional, and responsive approach to communication with
all stakeholders.
- Participate as a member of the leadership team in strategic planning and school
improvement efforts.
Qualifications
- Special education credential strongly preferred. Master’s degree in education,
speech pathology, counseling, or a related field will also be considered.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in admissions, school placement, or special
education program coordination.
- Strong understanding of nonpublic school operations and special education
processes (IEPs, placements, district referrals).
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with educators, clinicians, and parents.
