Your Opportunity
As an Environmental Remediation Project Manager or Deputy Project Manager, your role will be to lead or assist with leading teams to implement projects through all phases of a project’s lifecycle. You will be responsible for overseeing or assisting with overseeing environmental staff to execute projects and consulting services resulting successfully and efficiently in client satisfaction, on-time delivery of quality submittals, and profitable performance.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Manage tasks and projects according to approved scopes of work and deliver quality reports on schedule and within budget.
- Track project budgets to assist with keeping in line with internal and external budget expectations. Communicate with the Project Manager or client with project budget concerns. Review sub invoices and support client invoicing process.
- Contribute to business development activities, including proposals, pre-qualifications, and relationship building with clients and prospective clients.
- Interact and interface with clients and environmental regulators.
- Prepare or assist with preparation of contract documents, including detailed design drawings and specifications, and project permitting.
- Participate in Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Policies, Procedures, Standards and Guidelines in the execution of all work.
- Plan and conduct assignments/ projects having broad scope for independent accomplishment and coordination of difficult tasks.
- Provide supervision, training, technical direction, and mentoring to more junior staff.
- Provide on-site field program kick-off support for junior staff.
- Conduct peer reviews of routine and moderately complex work by colleagues or more junior practitioners.
- Apply technical and business knowledge and methods to develop creative, effective, and economical solutions to address current and potential project issues.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Working knowledge of NYSDEC Environmental and Brownfield Guidance Documents/Regulations, NYSDEC Technical Guidance for Site Investigation and Remediation (DER-10), USEPA Superfund, and other Environmental Regulatory Programs.
- Solid track record of successful collaboration.
- Capable of serving as technical lead, interfacing with clients, engaging local and remote staff, and interacting with regulatory agencies in the execution of site investigation and remedial projects.
- Demonstrated creativity, foresight and developing engineering or geologic judgment in anticipating and solving project challenges.
- Commitment to advancing communication skills with the ability to provide technical leadership on projects and organizing project teams.
- Capable of participating and collaborating in project team setting to engage in creative and critical thought.
- Excellent writing skills.
- Ability to assist in preparation of successful proposals, and management of project deliverables, budgets, and schedules to meet client requirements.
- Thorough understanding of engineering and geologic concepts and ability to communicate ideas to others.
- Provide quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) of project documents.
- Good presentation skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Pre-employment physical, drug testing, and good driving record are required.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental engineering, Civil Engineering, Geology/Hydrogeology or Environmental Science, with an emphasis on Environmental Engineering and Remediation, Geology or Environmental Sciences.
- Approximately 8 years of investigation/remediation experience.
- Licensed NY Professional Engineer or Geologist is a plus.
- Environmental Compliance experience a plus (e.g., NYS tank regulations, SPCC, air, RCRA, and/or wastewater).
- Experience with PFAS is a plus.
- 40 Hour HAZWOPER certification, with Annual Refreshers is required.
- 8 Hour HAZWOPER supervisor certification is a plus.
- A valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record are required.
- Pre-employment physical is required.
The position will consist of working in an office setting and in the field as our projects dictate. The office environment includes preparing project proposals and reports, using computer software to manage schedules and budgets and collaborating with a diverse group of professionals. Time spent in the office environment will include prolonged sitting or standing at a computer workstation. Field work will vary based on project scope, location, and technical tasks and may involve standing for long periods of time, walking on uneven surfaces, and exposure to inclement weather. Must be able to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs on a repeated basis and must be able to safely climb a ladder on a repeated basis.

Salary Range(s):
- $68,200.00 - $98,900.00 Min/Max Pay Range(s) for postings located in NYC/NY
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
