Your Opportunity
A leadership position is available as the Energy & Renewables Team Leader for the Midwest region. This position will serve in a leadership capacity for an established, multi‑disciplinary team located across multiple offices throughout the Midwest, including Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, Kansas, and Iowa.
Our Energy & Renewables team partners with utilities, developers, municipalities, and private clients to plan, design, and deliver sustainable energy infrastructure that supports the transition to a lower‑carbon future. Our work spans renewable generation, power delivery, grid modernization, energy storage, and emerging technologies. We combine technical excellence with practical experience to deliver safe, reliable, and innovative solutions that create long‑term value for our clients and communities.
This role offers the opportunity to lead high‑impact projects, grow a diverse energy portfolio, and mentor a team of professionals passionate about advancing the energy transition. This position will have location flexibility in Stantec's US North Central Region.

Pay Range
Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Your Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Business Center and Sector Leadership to develop and implement the vision, strategy, and growth goals for the Energy & Renewables practice.
- Provide overall fiscal, operational, and technical leadership for the Energy & Renewables group within the Business Center.
- Lead, manage, and mentor staff across energy disciplines, supporting professional development, performance management, and career progression.
- Coach, develop, and retain high‑performing and high‑potential team members; ensure effective training, resourcing, and succession planning.
- Support development of annual business plans, operating budgets, revenue forecasts, and staffing plans aligned with market demand.
- Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities across renewable energy, power delivery, and energy infrastructure markets.
- Maintain and grow strategic client relationships with utilities, developers, agencies, and key industry partners throughout the region.
- Oversee workload planning, project staffing, and resource allocation to ensure project delivery, quality, and financial performance.
- Provide oversight for project and account management, including scope, schedule, budget, and risk management.
- Support proposal strategy, preparation, and review, including technical approach, staffing, and fee development.
- Participate in contract negotiations, fee development, and client presentations.
- Recruit and attract top technical and leadership talent to support long‑term growth of the Energy & Renewables practice.
- Thorough understanding of the Energy and Renewables industry, including regional market trends, regulatory environments, and emerging technologies.
- Demonstrated technical leadership in the planning, design, and delivery of energy infrastructure or renewable energy projects, with strong project management and contract administration experience.
- Proven leadership and business development experience, with the ability to grow revenue and lead complex, multi‑disciplinary teams.
- Established relationships with utilities, developers, agencies, or other key stakeholders within the energy market are strongly preferred.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and team‑building skills; ability to lead in a dynamic, matrixed organization.
- Results‑oriented, strategic thinker with a high degree of integrity and commitment to safety, quality, and client satisfaction.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Energy Systems, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in the energy or renewable energy sector, including leadership responsibilities.
- Willingness to travel to other office locations, project sites, and client meetings as required.
