Your Opportunity
Stantec's Building Science Group provides planning, design, and construction administration services for a vast array of building types and uses. We are currently seeking a Building Science Consultant to complement our Building Sciences team in the Portland Office to play a role in the delivery of field reviews for both new construction and rehabilitation, building condition assessment/evaluations, air barrier consulting, project management, and renewal planning. Due to expanding business opportunities within the company, this position offers significant potential for growth in the areas of technical/professional development and project management.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).
Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.

Your Key Responsibilities
- Review design documents, shop drawings, and submittals prepared by third parties for conformance with good building practice with respect to water intrusion, air leakage, vapor diffusion, thermal performance and differential movement
- Undertake field review of both new construction and rehabilitation projects to confirm that the construction of the building envelope assemblies is proceeding per approved mock-ups and design document
- Prepare site visit reports and use this database to generate Action Lists of outstanding deficiencies and track their resolution
- Undertake field testing of selected building envelope assemblies to confirm compliance with specified performance standards (primarily water infiltration and air leakage) and prepare reports outlining the results of these tests
- Interface with architects, general contractors and sub-contractors
- Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment with a strong customer service commitment
- Position requires travel
- Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or related field required.
- 0-4 years experience.
- Pursuing registration either as a Professional Engineer or Registered Architect is a plus.
