Purpose Statement
The job of Human Resource Generalist is done for the purpose/s of providing general support to the delivery of Human Resource services with specific responsibility for responding to routine employee inquiries regarding policies, regulations, and negotiated language; assisting with a variety of HR issues under supervision; and supporting compliance efforts to ensure that personnel functions conform to all applicable regulatory requirements.
Essential Functions
- Coordinates and plans food services and supplies for the purpose of supporting HR meetings, events and professional gatherings.
- Coordinates and schedules facility spaces for the purpose of ensuring organizational meetings and events are scheduled and communicated effectively.
- Coordinates the employee recruitment process (e.g. creating interview folders, preparing campus visit materials, managing the schedule, etc.) for the purpose of efficient and effective recruitement of new employees.
- Develops a wide variety of written and visual materials (e.g. spread sheets, schedules, notifications, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.
- Maintains organized filing systems (e.g. legal files, meeting notebooks, leave requests), etc.) for the purpose of providing accurate information in compliance with established guidelines.
- Monitors and orders office supplies for the purpose of maintaining efficient department operations.
- Participates in meetings that involve a range of issues (e.g. personnel actions, regulatory requirements, actions involving outside agencies, inter-department needs, etc.) for the purpose of developing recommendations and supporting other staff.
- Processes and manages employment and volunteer-replated documentation (e.g. retirement/resignation letters, employment verifications, employee references, employee recognition, and background checks, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring compliance with district policies and legal requirements.
- Provides notary public services for staff and organizational documents as needed for the purpose of ensuring proper documentation and legal compliance.
- Serves as the first point of contact for visitors and staff by greeting guests (e.g. answering multi-line phone systems, and providing general assistance, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a professional and welcoming environment.
- Supports the Human Resource Manager and department staff for the purpose of ensuring the effective and efficient functioning of the work unit.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include:
personnel practices applied within a school district environment; interpreting contract language; and codes, regulations & laws related to the job functions.
SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: planning and managing projects; preparing and maintaining accurate records; operating standard office equipment; and utilizing pertinent software applications.
ABILITY is required to schedule a number of activities, meetings, and/or events; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Work Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 60% sitting, 20% walking, 20% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
Experience: Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is desired.
